| Bio: | Pilot to Bloodlines TV Verse Elena Gilbert was born in Mystic Falls, Virginia to one of the town’s most influential families, a family that has been integral in the town ‘secret’ politics, also referred to one of the founding families, a part of the social society for over one hundred and fifty years. At the end of the 2008 school year, Elena’s parents were killed when their car slid in the river during a flood. Elena awoke in the hospital without any memory of who she survived. (Later it is revealed Stefan saves her at the end of her entry to New Worlds. Since in NW’s Elena’s storyline the Stefan as her savior and the subsequent knowledge of her adoption and probable link to Katherine.) It’s a new school year; Elena is determined to slap on a shiny, happy face; determined to go back to her old life as the pretty, popular cheerleader, the archetype of high school popularity. Her old life was exactly that - old. Losing her parents changed everything, but meeting Stefan Salvatore changed not only Elena but everyone around her. With Stefan, came his brother, Damon; two vampires one girl. Katherine their what most people would refer to as sire, was beautifully dangerous. Elena now the one girl in their life happened to be Katherine’s doppelganger. Meeting Elena renews the rivalry between the brothers for one woman’s affection. This is when Elena’s fate is changed forever. Typical chaos ensues: people die, vampires hunt and are hunted, memories blind the brain and hurt the heart, alliances are made and broken, betrayals, friendships, life and death all are a part of seventeen-year-old's high school experience. As Elena experiences these events they cause her to become at times closer and other times distant to the two vampires that love her. Elena has been able to handle: knowing and trusting vampires, learning that her best friends a witch, discovers Katherine’s portrait and their resemblance. Until today she lived with her aunt, who was more of a pal than disciplinarian. She felt responsible for her brother, mothering him at times. Unknowingly, she is a doppelganger for Katherine von Swartzchild, a vampire who visited Mystic Falls during the civil war. Katherine turned two brothers who became rivals for Katherine's attention. Her uncanny resemblance to their sire made her a target of interest for both of the Salvatore brothers.
